Anwar Hamdi, MD PhD

Anwar Hamdi, M.D., Ph.D., is physician scientist with over 44 years of clinical, academic, teaching, and administrative experience in the fields of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology.

Dr. Hamdi graduated from Damascus University, College of Medicine in 1978 (MD, USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) and ECFMG certificate) and went on to train and practice in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. He later received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and Neuropharmacology from East Tennessee State University, James H. Quillen College of Medicine, Johnson City, Tennessee. Dr. Hamdi went on to hold a position as a research scientist in neurosciences at Louisiana State University then he joined King Saud and King Khalid Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy (where he taught clinical pharmacology to Medical, Dental, and Pharmacy students). 

He is the recipient of over 75 national and international awards. Dr. Hamdi has over 115 publications; including research articles in scientific journals, books and online media. 

Dr. Hamdi continues to find joy in learning and his commitment to teaching has never wavered. To this day, in his free time, he continues to try to find engaging ways to make difficult concepts easier
